Past Experience : Since 1988, I have served as Senior Events Strategist and Chief of Protocol with a long track record of creating, advancing, and managing innovative, large-scale, high-visibility special events involving heads of state, world leaders, high-level U.S. and foreign dignitaries, diplomats, professional athletes, performing artists, Hollywood celebrities, explorers, scholars, corporate executives, philanthropists, and other VIP guests and honorees. I have extensive experience with a wide range of events including, but not limited to: logistically complex events and ceremonies, sporting events, international conferences, feature film world premieres, television shows, cultural activities and museum openings, large-scale fundraisers, dignitary visits, festivals, and national traveling events, among others.

Something Fun about Yourself : I attended cooking school in Tuscany and love to cook. In my spare time, I pursue all forms of creative arts, and have a passion for bead-work and jewelry making.

More About Nicole

Nicole L. Krakora is a nationally recognized leader in the events and protocol industries with more than two decades of experience in both the private and public sectors. Nicole is the Assistant Vice President for University Events at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., a role she assumed in early 2014. In addition, she is an independent events and protocol strategist, providing consultation services and presenting educational seminars and briefings to Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, government executives, and academia. Throughout her career, her contacts have included the most senior levels of the White House, the Administration, the State Department and other Cabinet-level offices, Congress, the Supreme Court, the Secret Service, the diplomatic corps, foreign governments and corporate leadership.

In 2012, Nicole retired from the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex, where from 2011 until 2012, she served as Director of Protocol and Senior Advisor for Events and Advance. From 1995 until 2011, she served as the Smithsonian’s Director of Special Events and Protocol; during which time, she established the advance and protocol functions at the Institution. Prior to the Smithsonian Institution, Nicole was a Senior Account Executive with Campbell, Peachey & Associates, an event planning firm specializing in the arts and philanthropic events. Trained by the Protocol School of Washington, she provides individual and group instruction in International, Business, and Children’s Protocol and Etiquette; Protocol Officer Training; Dining Etiquette; and Taking Tea. As a subject matter expert in international protocol, she is also a frequent speaker on the topics of cultural diplomacy and cross-cultural communication.
